Molding & Assembly Tour

Molding and Assembly Tour

The Infinity Molding and Assembly facility currently serves automotive, industrial, consumer and non-clean room medical applications as a premier contract manufacturer and custom injection molder of thermoplastics. Located in Southern Indiana and part of Infinity Plastics group, the Molding & Assembly team has developed a regional and national reputation for speed to market & engineering support.

CAD Modeling

At Infinity, many steps go into bringing a new part to life. This process begins with receiving a drawing or CAD model of the product to analyze and develop a quotation.

Program Management

Program Management

Once the component has been awarded to us, a program manager is assigned to the project. We begin the APQP (advanced product quality planning) process with the tooling development phase starting with the mold layout and design. The mold contractor then provides an initial set of detailed mold drawings to us for approval. After our approval of the mold designs, the construction of the mold takes place.

Tooling

The completed mold is delivered to us for check in and initial sampling by our process engineering group. These parts are checked against the drawing for fit and function which will either go into a longer sample run (run at rate) and full dimensional layout of the parts or mold modifications to correct any dimensional issues. After the layout is complete, a PPAP package is prepared and submitted to the client for approval.

Once approved for production, the mold is released for production and product is run in the appropriate machine based on the PPAP package.

Mattec Real-Time Production Monitoring

Infinity uses a Mattec real time monitoring system to check production output, machine efficiency and remaining run time on scheduled production.

Secondary Operations

Secondary Operations

We also perform a variety of secondary operations to the injection molding process. These include: assembly, sonic welding, pad printing, leak testing and product testing.

Vertical Injection Molding

Vertical injection molding is an area of expertise for us. This is used extensively for insert molded products. We are known for our experience insert molding and manufacturer a large variety of parts especially water pump impellers.

PAD Printing

PAD Printing

One of our secondary processes is pad printing. We utilize multi head printing technology using rotary table automation. We also have extensive experience with epoxy inks.

Quality Control

We have full metrological capabilities to measure and assess our products. Included in our quality equipment is an IR scanner which is used to verify the composition of our resins. Our facilities are ISO9001, TS16949, ISO13485 and ISO14001 certified by BSI.
